日前，中国绿发会老朋友、被绿会视作导师的世界著名灵长类动物学家珍·古道尔（Jane Goodall）博士专门给绿会发来了一则视频讯息，深切表达她对当下新冠病毒肺炎疫情的关切，对所有身处其中之人的问候与支持，以及由此引发的人与自然关系的一些思考。 珍与绿会渊源很深。早在上世纪80年代麋鹿再引进之时，她就开始关注绿会工作。她曾在赠与绿会的“Hope for Animals and Their World”一书上留言，表达对绿会工作的高度肯定与支持。她写道：“让我们一起为所有生命创造一个更美好的世界！” 为了环境与动物保护，现年已八十多岁耄耋之年的珍仍在奔波不断，呼吁、倡导爱护野生动物，保护所有生命共同的地球家园。

“Hello this is Jane Goodall. 你们好，我是珍·古道尔。 And I want to send a message to the Chinese people who are suffering so terribly from this outbreak of the coronavirus. 我想向在这次冠状病毒爆发中遭受巨大痛苦的中国人民传递一个讯息。 It is a truly terrible time you are going through. 这是你们正在经受的一个真正可怕的时刻。 And my heart is with all who are sick or who have lost loved ones. 我的心与所有生病或失去亲人的人同在。 I just hope and pray that the nightmare will soon be over. 我只是希望并祈祷噩梦快点结束。 I also hope and pray that the nightmare may end for the wild animals who are captured and kept in horrible conditions for food. 我也希望并祈祷，对于那些被捕获并被关在可怕环境中作为食物的野生动物来说，噩梦也许将会结束。 Or because some people believe that various animal parts can be used to cure diseases or give people strength and virility. 或者因为有些人相信各种各样的动物器官可以用来治疗疾病或给人带来力量和活力。 Because animals: bears, pangolins, civets, bats, rhinos and so on. 因为动物:熊、穿山甲、果子狸、蝙蝠、犀牛等等。 They all have feelings just like us. Like us they suffer pain.
